Here is your assignment: By Saturday, create 3 days of meals, from waking up to going to bed. Include Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts/Seeds, eggs and meat/fish for each day. Send it over to me and I’ll make any additions I think will help you, then when you hit the store you will be ready. Starting Monday, you will have 14 days to kick ass in the nutrition department and you will lose weight.

Sunday afternoon:

Hit the grocery store with your list in mind and prepare.
Grill up a few chicken breasts for you to add to meals all week.
Boil some eggs for quick snacks.
Cut up and store vegetables that are to be added to salads and morning omelet (Amanda and I pre-portion nuts, seeds and raisins into sandwich bags for quick snacks) Also, getting some bundles of leafy greens and cutting them up yourself is way cheaper than buying the prepackaged stuff.
Cut out Dairy and ...

Wait until tomorrow. Wait until after vacation. Wait until you graduate or get that promotion.
I spoke with a woman yesterday about weight loss and fitting into some new clothes for the summer. She told me her mom has been encouraging her to wait until things “slow down” then focus on eating better and exercising.
Really?!? That is horrible advice! What if in the time she waited she develop heart disease? What if she turns her ankle and exercise gets REALLY tough? The amount of calories she will have to eventually burn is not going to stop accumulating just because in the future there will be a plan set in place.
Listen: DO IT NOW! Don’t let ANYONE tell you to stay overweight. Its your body, and the only one you will EVER get. Take care of it…not tomorrow, NOW!
Now let’s go and sweat it out!

Here are MY thoughts on YOUR recent weight loss. I have three things to say :

Great job. Keep going because the only other option is fat-the direction you are headed will bring you so much more than a smaller waistline when it comes to health.
Strive to win everyday. Every time you have an “occasional 2000 calorie day,” you just wiped out the previous day of good stuff and you start back at square one. Those days failure days are over from here on out, got it? Save the excuses because no one wants to hear about how you failed again at your diet. Next time you want to eat more than your body needs, ask yourself “Is this so good that I want to wear it as fat?”
Celebrate the small victories on the way. You did not gain the weight in a few months and you will not lose the weight ...

Recently, an former professor of mine asked me what he could tell his “friend” about maybe losing 20 or 30 pounds. Specifically, he asked what would the the first steps be. Read on for my response:
“Ha! Please tell you “friend” to start with food. Most people have an unhealthy relationship to food. Women are usually addicted to the unhealthy food, and men just straight don’t pay attention. You would do well to first get familiar with the type and amount of food you consume, including beverages. Write them down or plug it into your phone (If you have an iPhone, I suggest the Lose It! Application) Do that for about a week, being TOTALLY honest, then step back and observe patterns you have. Did you eat because of an emotion like boredom or stress, or did a situation where you felt inferior lead you to “take control” and eat because ...

Is it me, or is Dr. Phil a pretty big guy? I just finished reading “The Ultimate Weight Solution: The 7 Keys to Weight Loss Freedom” this morning. Nothing new that hasn’t been screamed before. Phrases like “food is a drug,” “Pay attention at how you feel when you eat,” and “don’t eat processed foods” kept the book at par with all the other celeb-turned-nutritionist’s books. It seems like everyone has a weight plan and the “secret” to weight loss.
How many diet plans have you tried in the last 5 years? I have read about or tried every “diet plan” I can get my hands on (and driven my bride crazy with the random grocery lists I bring with us to the store). Its not that I am trying to lose weight-on the contrary, I am very happy at the weight I am at. The reason I put myself through ...

Don’t throw the scale out- throw the calorie counting out. Sounds crazy, right? Well, tell me, has calorie counting worked for you?
What would happen if instead of trying to eat the right amount of calories you decided to only let things in your mouth that are good for you and you exercised everyday? What if you ate fruits, veggies, nuts, grains and lean meats without counting calories- and all your macronutrient needs were met?
One, you wouldn’t be hungry.
Two, your body would be able to heal itself.
And three, YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT.
This way of eating is not popular because it is simple and many think anything done “old school” means there is a new and improved way of doing it. Nope, sorry. Grandma was thin because she ate raw veggies and lean meats 3 times a day. Do you really need to snack all day long, or can you eat 3 ...

Hey Mom! Next time you go to the mall, why not turn it into an exercise event. Walk the ENTIRE thing 5 times before you go into any shop to buy something.
What mall will you be going to to walk 5 times?
